MH Strategic Partnership

The Mental Health Providers Forum joined the Department of Health Third Sector Strategic Partnership Programme in 2010, becoming the lead partner in a group of voluntary sector mental health organisations – the Mental Health Strategic Partnership (MHSP). Together, alongside seventeen other Department of Health Strategic Partners representing all care groups, we work collaboratively to support the development of health and social care policy across government.

Our partners in the MHSP are the Afiya Trust, Mental Health Foundation, mhhp, Mind, The National Survivor User Network, Rethink Mental Illness and Centre for Mental Health.

We work to promote better outcomes for mental health service users and carers, making information and best practice more accessible to key networks and stakeholders.

MHSP goals:

  1. To influence change in health and social care to benefit those who access and rely on services, especially individuals needing mental health support
  2. To champion the cause for service users and carers with mental health conditions
  3. Interpret government policy for third sector mental health organisations for local application

Overview of current programme of work:

  • Producing briefing papers informing the sector of what the Government’s mental health strategy means for member organisations and stakeholders
  • A mental health awareness raising campaign
  • Mapping the health and social care reforms in order to facilitate engagement and input to the process of quality assurance and outcomes
