In 1991 HUBB was formed from a small group of service users and carers who were given £300 by the Health Authority to set up a local support group. The group was particularly concerned for patients moving into the community from what was then Warley Hospital The acronym was taken from Havering Users Barking & Brentwood, but we now see HUBB as meaning the “central point” from which people can access services and information. HUBB employs people who use or have used mental health services and our Management Committee includes 10 people who access mental health services.
