The Department of Health has published its annual report on the second year of operation of the Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy Service.

 

Key points from the report include:

 

·         6582 people were represented in 2008/9

·         this is an increase of 27% over 2007/8

·         13% had mental health needs (excluding dementia

·         The highest number of referrals was Surrey with 179

·         5 areas had no referrals and 71 areas had less than 30 referrals
